I woke up at 6 am before the other couples. I wanted to take a walk on the beach. As I walked down the towards the pier I got stopped at least twice by teenage girls asking me where I got my handbag from. I simply handed them a business card and said I was on vacation, which I was.
I knew Jade and Ally only invited me because I overheard their plans, and really I am happy to getaway from the city for a little while. I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and it was nice to spend time with the girls.
My havianas were filling up with sand, so I shook them off and went up to the pier and started taking pictures with my phone.
"Wanna use a real camera ?"
I turned to see the guy from last night, I struggled to remember his name.
"Cord", he said like he could read my mind
"I'm Ally".
He had a professional camera and was taking pictures of the beach as well.
"I'm working on a brochure and a new website. . . do you want to be in it ?"
"Me. . . no"
"I won't get your face."
"Okay"
I turned to face the ocean and heard his camera go off a few times. I watched as he put the camera back into his bag, he was dressed casually in a pair of lined shorts and a open collar t-shirt. I wondered if he lived in West Cove, it must be amazing to see the ocean every morning before going to work.
"Wanna go for a walk ?", I asked
"Sure"
Stepping off the pier we walked down the beach, I would have thought it was awkward to walk with a stranger but it was comfortable, I suddenly realized I was smiling uncontrollably. We sat for a while and watched the tide come in.
We talked about work, family and friends but I kept one question to myself.
"I should head back", I said
"I should see you around, right"
"Yeah, and uh Cord. Just out of curiosity do you have a girlfriend ?"
"Why ?"
"Never mind"
We went our separate ways when he yelled back at me
"No"

Ally's alarm clock went off for the fourth time, Sev and I looked at each other laughing at her expense.
"I'm so sorry ", she called hopping in with one shoe wearing the white dress I had worn last night
"Ready ?", asked Sev
Sev and Ally were going to the film set today, they had invited the rest of us but I knew making a movie wasn't as exciting as it looked and decline.I joined Carrady who was watching soccer highlights on TV, special order.
"How's the team doing without their coach ?"
"Fine", he said, "good actually"
Carrady had been a professional soccer player in Britain but after convincing him to come state side he had turned to coaching on of the national American teams.
After a while I noticed he watching the Tv anymore.
"what are you looking at ?"
"You", he said with a kiss.
"You know", he said, "I've been thinking of moving to West Cove."
"Really ? Me too"
"Al, Sev and Rachelle would be crushed"
"We can think about it"
I'd kept secrets from them before but this was a big one, maybe I shouldn't convince myself to move to West Cove so quickly. I had 6 weeks to make a choice.
So, that summer began
