Ally
The lights flashed overhead spraying colors of gold, red and purple over the crowded dance floor, I loosened my ponytail an let my ash blonde hair flow down my back, it got the attention of a few of the guys around but once they get close enough to see my wedding band they backed off.I turned to see my last single friend, Rachelle, dancing next to me. She was a stunning woman at 24. Her hair was a more natural blonde than mine, she had long legs I was envious of and with a successful and blossoming designer purse business.
Rachelle was soon joined by a woman in gold platforms and a white dress that set off the rich brown color of her skin, her hair looked wet and mixed with Rachelles as they danced back to back, which also got the attention of the men.
"Jade, your married remember !", I called to her over the music
They both laughed me off. Jade was a newlywed she and Carrady had only been married for a few months, They were both "island babies", Jade was practically raised with her mother in Jamaica while Carrady was born and bred in Britan.
I signaled for them to follow me off the dance floor and we settled by the bar. I ordered a hurricane, they were becoming my new favorite drink. Jade and Rachelle ordered their drinks neat and made fun of me for drinking a "girly" drink, but I didn't care.
"Thank you guys for inviting me", said Rachelle sipping her cranberry vodka.
"Just because Jade and I are married doesn't mean we can only go on couples vacation", I told her
"besides you should see what you are missing out on !", offered Jade.
After we drained our glasses we went for a walk on the beach.
West Cove was officially open for business, it had been a beach spot for people all over the country. We took off our shoes and watched the waves roll in. It was our first night of the weeks we were spending here. I just hoped the entire trip would be as fun as tonight.
On our way back to the hotel 2 motorcycles started following us, they were driving really slow. We tried to ignore them when they cut onto the sidewalk and blocked our path.
One of the guys removed his helmet, he had thick brown hair a perfectly angular jaw and clear green eyes. He didn't look happy, his friend kept his shades on and looked around.
"What the deal, Carrady ?", I asked
"You ladies shouldn't be walking alone", he said hopping off his bike and putting a protective arm around his wife.
"Do you agree, Sev", I asked taking off his shades
"Hey I need those !", he snatched them back from me.
Seven Ocean loved and hated being out in public at the same time. His parents were actors and being such, blessed him with a name he hated more than anything. Even with the name I knew I was lucky to be married to him. He had landed a role in a series of action films with a cult following, even still he didn't like the attention.
It seemed like only a few weeks ago Jade and I had been sitting around after work trying to think of a fun vacation. We had gone to West Cove in high school and decide to come back, I had met Rachelle when I moved into my building and since we were inseparable we invited her too.
"We will meet you guys at the hotel okay, Hon", I offered
The guys agreed and rode back to the hotel, the girls and I walked with our arms linked now.
"I hope it wasn't a mistake bringing them", laughed Jade
We were staying at the West Cove Matrix a new Hotel/Night Club. We had all chipped in for the penthouse so we could room together. Once we reached the top floor I tried the key over and over again and it still wouldn't open.
"let me try", said Rachelle.
She couldn't get it to work and knocked for Carrady or Sev to open the door, the door opened and instead of them a man I didn't recognize opened the door.
"What are you doing in our room ?", asked Jade her blackberry in her hand
"This is my room", said the man, he had an amazing soft velvet voice
I touched my head realizing I had tried to open the wrong door, but the stranger was to busy staring at Rachelle.
"I'm Ally", I introduced myself, "this is Jade and this is Rachelle !"
He introduced himself as Cord, he was a club promoter working with the hotel and would be our neighbor for the rest of the trip. We said our good nights and went to our proper room.
"Babe, I've got good news". said Sev as we entered
"What ?"
"You know that prequel. . . they want to shoot it this summer in West Cove."
"this is a vacation you are going to work ?"
"It will be fine, you can come around the set you won't even know I'm working"
"That's great then !", I said
+++
We finally went to bed around 4 am. I slumped into the soft pink and white covers in the hotel room. Sev was lying down to, he was wearing a pair of flannel pants with his movie logo on them, he was shirtless. I absently traced the lines of his abs.
"I'm happy about the movie, really"
"I know, I just don't want you to worry."
"I can't help it. I just don't want you to become a workaholic."
He sat up and kissed the top of my head
"I"m an Ally-holic, listen Ally sure I was happy working and living as a bachelor in L.A but when you came along I didn't want that anymore, you complete my life every way possible I won't let anything get in the way of that."
"I know"
"That's why I agreed to this vacation, I want to show you how much I love and am committed to you. I wouldn't have stayed your husband for 2 years if I didn't believe that you- you are the center of my life."
"You are the center of my life too", I said.
I felt warm and safe in his embrace, the walls felt like they were closing in and open to all sorts of possibilities but it was okay because as far as I was concerned the summer had just started.
